Driver Software :(

Postby oldfriend » 16 May 2016, 15:01

I have had, for a year, a software program that automatically updates my drivers. (Driver Manager)

It has worked well and their has been no problems about my drivers staying updated.

Do I need this program? It is on my laptop and I run windows 10.

I don't really mind paying for another year but sort of get disgusted having to buy or purchase products every year.

I used to buy a Microsoft Word CD and then I had Microsoft Word on my computer. Now I am having to pay every year to just use Microsoft Word.

I know there are "Free" on line word processors out there but I like Word.

However, I digress. Do I have to purchase a Driver Software Updater?

I don't have that type of software and haven't felt a need for it. If my printer driver is out of date, it alerts me and I just click a button to update it. When I use a piece of software that is out of date, it also generally alerts me to the fact. I'm not sure that this would be worth spending money on.

Are there any particular drivers that you are updating?

No, the software came with the computer and I signed up.

Just asking for advice.

BTW, I like your advice. :D

That is actually useless, you can update your drivers yourself without any driver manager.

I don't have Windows 10 but that sounds annoying. I get a popup on my screen when something needs to be updated or a message in the corner and both of my PCs currently run Windows 8.1. Sadly I do not own Microsoft word which sucks but I download OpenOffice and that processor is good.

I started with Microsoft Word for Windows and later switched to OpenOffice to save money on upgrades, but now I use LibreOffice and have no regrets. You can read about why I like it better at http://www.howtogeek.com/187663/openoff ... d-you-use/
