Samsung laptop. A good option?

Postby germainebull » 27 May 2016, 08:56

I generally consider Samsung mobile devices to be of excellent quality. I'm not however sure about the performance of Samsung laptops.

Has anyone used a Samsung laptop? How can you describe its performance compared to other laptop brands?

I had one mini laptop from Samsung 10.1" in the past which worked to my utmost satisfaction. I bought it for its power backup that was good for 8-10 hours per charge but now they have stopped making them.

I had a Samsung ultrabook all throughout college and it was magnificent. I never ran into any problems. It was a tad expensive (still cheaper than Macs), but well worth the money. My only complaint is it was a little heavy so it was tough carrying it around everyday. Not too big of a problem though.

Samsung is a reputable brand name, and if the price is right, go for it! All my Android phones in the past were Samsung. Just make sure you read some reviews first to find out the pro and cons of each model. I would definitely look to see if it gets over heated easily since HP laptop is known for this issue!

Samsung has some decent business laptops, although a lot of their models are overpriced. I would buy a Dell or HP if you are looking for an ultrabook.

I do think that there are some laptop computers that can do the same job or even better for a lower price. The likes of ASUS and Lenovo can be a good choice (though I don't know if they're available at your place).

I have never had a Samsung laptop before but I have a Samsung tablet and it is still working after 4 years. I usually buy HP computers since I like them and they are priced okay. I would not consider a Dell, but I have heard that Asus is a good computer brand. I guess it just depends on what you want to use it for and how much you are willing to pay.

Thanks for your insight. I'll consider the price factor when zeroing in on a particular gadget.

I really like Samsung phones. The last 3 phones me and my spouse owned were all Samsung devices of some sort. I have never used their laptops though. I have always had good luck with Acer desktops and laptops. I am thinking if their phones are good that Samsung probably also has good laptops. I would check for some reviews on Google and see what people are saying.

I don't like Samsung as a brand because in the last couple of years the quality of their equipment got worse. My Samsung tv after 3 years started with sound problems, I had to unplug a couple of wires and just use the remote control to use control the sound. My mobile phone with 1 year started with sound problems too and my tablet has batery issues. After this I promisse myself to never buy anything from Samsung again.
If you want a good laptop buy an ASUS, HP or something like that, not a Samsung please.

Wow those are some serious and annoying problems. That would be enough to make me never buy a brand of something again. I will admit my Samsung phone has a weird battery issue but it doesn't bother me I guess because I am near the charger often. But that is crappy though in the sense if I was traveling and such. Those issues you are having suck though! Sorry to hear that.

My friend has a samsung laptop, but he had a bad experience with it. First the hard disk gave problems and then the battery ran out of steam pretty quickly, but that could be just one off case, their mobile products are among the best there is so I think their laptops will be good enough too. Though as mentioned before, they are a bit pricey when compared with hp and dell.

Its scary to hear that a Samsung laptop has had disk problems.

In my short experience with laptops, I've never heard or come across a disk problem.

Thanks for sharing this concern :)

For laptops, I don't usually look at the brand so much as the specifications. If you can link a particular laptop model that you were considering so that we can see the specifications, we may be able to give you more helpful advice. :)

Samsung's laptops are really sturdy so you're getting something of superior quality, but they're really overpriced. I would instead look at Asus or Dell.

Insightful assertion. If I may ask, what specific attribute makes Dell superior to Samsung?
