One day of spam

Postby Streamguy69 » 02 Jun 2016, 14:08

I have a hotmail account and the other day I got about 100 spam emails. I signed up for a new email account and just changed over what was important. Yesterday I monitored the old email and I didn't get one piece of spam. that was crazy

Haha..welcome HOT mail for sure :)

I use BingRewards and I had to have an account there. That was the only reason I used it for. Within a day, like you, my email account was flooded with spam. I dislike hotmail so much that I haven't even logging in for a long time. I only used it to sign in to Bing.

But what normally happens for someone to get so much spam how is it that you had no spam when you opened a new account I don't understand

I have never had a problem with spam. I have a block which is why I don't understand how it got through. my new email does not get any spam because of the spam blocker. it goes right to trash :)

Wow, that's crazy! I've never had a Hotmail account. But I did used to get lots of spam on my Yahoo account, not so much on my gmail :) I'm glad you found a solution for it, though.

It seems that they have had an issue recently filtering spam - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-36426142

I also have a hotmail.com account and one thing I love about it is.....

I can block and delete future emails from specific spammers with one click. That's what I call, making the best of a bad situation.

That's a LOT of spam. Glad it doesn't seem to be happening anymore! I know email companies are getting smarter about catching spam, but unfortunately the spammers are getting smart too. I occasionally still get a weird one that slips through, although 100 spam mails is a ton of spam!

I would be confused too, 100 spam emails is a lot for a single day and the most weird thing isthat now you have none. you did well in changing for another email, I use gmail and I'm happy with it.

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated to Google.

From experience, I know that gmail is among the best email service providers. I've not received spam on my gmail accounts that I did not initiate in some way. Perhaps you could try gmail?

Happened to me once as well, seems like my email got sent around to fishy websites. Oh well, I don't really mind it since those emails get sent to the spam folder anyway.

I use hotmail and gmail. Of the two I prefer Gmail but for whatever reason my main account is my Hotmail right now. I find that way to much spam gets through. As of recently its not so bad though.

Hotmail doesn't seem to have the best spam filter. :O I hardly ever see spam on my Gmail account. Gmail seems more secure than Hotmail overall. I used to use Hotmail a little over a decade ago, though. :O
