Which BitCoin Wallet are you using?

Postby shamzblueworld » 07 Jun 2016, 02:54

Which bitcoin wallet are you currently using and why do you prefer it over the others?
I am currently using Multibit, actually jack suggested me this one and I started with this one, have not tried any other yet.
I like it, its pretty simple but I want to know if there are any better ones or all of them are just the same with different UI.

If I may ask, do you incur any costs using this wallet other than perhaps bitcoin transfer charges?

I use many, and I don't have any big reasons for using each of them. I use the following:

1. Blockchain - The first bitcoin wallet I got was in blockchain.info

2. Coinbase - it allows us to create multiple wallets linked to the same account. I opened a coinbase wallet to get payments from Blogjob

3. Unocoin - The Indian bitcoin service provider - I used it first to buy and sell bitcoin with Indian rupees.

4. Zebpay - Another Indian bitcoin wallet provider - I use it because it provides good buy and sell rates.

It's web-based. They also have an app.

Coinbase is the very first wallet I got. I can use it on almost all sites that requires the use of a bitcoin wallet but I still prefer something local.

IDK bitcoins have just never really appealed to me. Sometimes I even wonder if the novelty will wear off and the whole thing will sink without a trace? I heard someone saying bitcoins are set to be the new 'world currency', but I'm not so sure. So yea, to answer your question, I've just never got involved.

Another question for you @laksh,
What's the benefit of using more than 1 wallets? Doesn't it cost you to transfer your money from one wallet to another?

The benefits are subjective. For each person the benefits of having different wallets may vary. As I explained above, I have my own individual reasons for having each of those wallets.
As far as cost of transferring is concerned, it's negligible. It's just 0.0001 or 0.0002 BTC which is about 5 to 10 cents at the present rate. And I don't transfer unless I need certain amount for a single transaction to be made from a single wallet. :)

I am using Xapo and Electrum but I am not spending much time mining bitcoins. The process is too slow for my taste :(

So, among these four bitcoin wallets, which one do you most prefer?

Why?

Thanks for your comprehensive post.
Is there a wallet that is more advantageous to use than the other/s?

I use only one and that is Unocoin. I did not know that I can use multiple Bitcoin accounts or connect them with my bank account. By the way what is the benefit of using multiple accounts?

I don't think there is any without any reason for using multiple wallets. Unless you use them for different purposes or on different services etc. like @laksh mentioned there above.

Mine is Blockchain. Works very well, dont see a reason to stop using it.
I also have a xapo account but because in xapo you need to verify your account i never have used it much. Only was created because of some faucets that only use xapo.

Between blockchain and coinbase which is the easier to set up? Also which one asks for more details of your personal information when setting up the account?
