Job Automation - Simply Amazing!

Postby laksh » 14 Jun 2016, 04:59

I was stunned to read this news this morning .

A guy has claimed that he had automated his software-testing job and sat back without doing any work in the office for a full 6 years! He spent the first 8 months of his job in developing an algorithm that would do his job automatically!

He used to spend his time playing games, browsing reddit, and killing time in other ways, as he says :D

But this level of not-doing-anything resulted in him forgetting how to code and eventually his employers found it out and fired him.

I think it would've been a great product if he had tried to sell it, and would've become a big entrepreneur himself!!

WHAT A GUY!

HAHA yeah I read that, too. It is actually "funny" reading this - but I don't know whether to believe it or not, though! I know some companies paying for guys to perform automated testing so I just can't believe that the guy will get sacked for it.

Something is not right there! I agree with @cessy_08 too since if it is his job to do the automated testing, why would he be fired? And it went on for 6 years? The boss and his work mates didn't say anything about this or check into what he's doing for 6 years?

One plus one isn't two in this case :)

It's nowhere mentioned that his job was automated testing!!! He automated it himself

Lol. This says a lot about the keenness or lack thereof of this man's employer and workmates.

How on earth could these fail to notice that this man was not working? It baffles me indeed.

I don't believe in that although I know sometimes it is possible to create bots to do certain tasks. Depending on his job he could use or not some bots. The jobs which allow this type of software to replace a human are not as many as we would like, lets say I only know one guy who does it and the bot just does a little part of his work.

I managed to automate some of my tasks at work as well but I don't spend all my time doing nothing, after all I want to improve as a developer so I always try to teach myself languages/new skills.

same situation since I've been working as a Data Analyst as my day job. I must say that it's not a easy one since you need to deal with lots of coding and to study for further research. As per downside, a successful automated system can lead to less manpower needed by the company and may cause unemployment.
