How to increase laptop volume; no external devices added

Postby germainebull » 18 Jun 2016, 17:19

I've obtained a laptop whose maximum volume is barely audible.

I want to increase this volume without adding an external device.

How do I go about this?

There really isn't a way of increasing your laptop volume without changing the sound card on your motherboard, and that's hard on a laptopm

Like @FuZyOn said, you have to change the sound card to get the volume fixed. But a thought has just occurred to me, how about using ear phone or head phone to see if you can hear better.

I have my laptop on mute all the time, so the volume doesn't need it in my case. I can't stand noises from advertisers :)

Make sure you have the latest driver installed, or download VLC Player and use the graphic equalizer to see if you can squeeze out a few more decibles.

That's a hard question taking into consideration we are talking about a laptop. If the volume is low either there is a problem with your sound card device or the laptop has it is just a weak soundboard. There is not much you can do about it, just check if the soundboard driver is the right one, try to update the system and like oldbuddy suggested try to use vlc. If that doesn't work forget it because to change a sound card in a laptop does not worth the money you would spend. Rather buy a new laptop.

With VLC it is possible to an extent, as you can increase volume up to 200%. But still it won't be enough I think, better option would be to get ear plugs or headphones if you want it for yourself or small speakers if you want it open to others as well.

There are any number of methods that would solve the problem by amplifying the sound, but the original post was to increase volume with no external devices.

Right click on the volume icon and then go for the volume options. The try to set the settings as per the volume level you are comfortable with. Usually it may revert back to default setting if any application resets this settings.

I appreciate your suggestion.
But, I've already tried your proposal with no satisfactory results; the volume is still low. This is the reason I'm seekign advice from you guys.
