Have you ever used a lesser known browser?

Postby Fergal » 06 Jul 2016, 18:04

The four main browsers in use today are Chrome, Firefox, IE and Safari.

Other browsers I have heard of, but haven't used, include Brave, Cliqz and. Vivaldi. I have used Opera a little bit in the past but didn't notice any significant benefits to it, over the more common browsers.

Have you ever used any other browser and what is your opinion of it?

I have used opera as a browser once and it was nice, i didnt see much change but its a nice alternative if your browser is slow for some reason. I would give it a 9/10 for convenience  :geek: .

I have installed Opera most recently but haven't used yet. I also have G Chrome and IE. But Mozilla remains my personal favourite.

I did install and use Slimjet for a while, but slipped back into my comfort zone with Firefox. Slimjet is based on Chrome without the spyware Google sneaks in there and seems to run even faster. I just like a few special plugins that work in Firefox.

Thanks oldbuddy, SlimJet looks very interesting. Their site certainly sells it well and I may try it at some time in the future.

I use Opera Developer Build (64 bit) as my default browser which is remarkably stable to be honest. Only real issue is that because the 64bit version itself is not officially released either, some updates are not made available for my version. Basically it is a development version of a development version of a browser :| I do like Opera as it does look pretty nice, fast and also very familiar as it is like Chrome but without alot of the bulk that has bloated out Chrome.

I also use Vivaldi as my second browser as it is quite feature rich and does I think look really nice and has some pretty unique features such as the tab colour changing to match the main colour of the site you are visiting.

I have also used Slimjet in the past although found it to be always a bit outdated in terms of Chromium versions and the appearance of the browser (specifically the back, reload icons etc) looked a bit old fashioned.

I have used Opera browser before on my Window laptop and I like it. Getting used to it is another issue, since I always go back to Firefox because of all the extensions that I have on there.

I am now using Safari exclusively, and though I don't have all the extensions, I like how fast it works.

@Fergal...I think I've only heard of Vivaldi out of all those. So really, I've only ever used the major ones like Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Now I use Safari only because I genuinely have no complaints, so have no reason to try any alternatives.

I have heard of a few different browsers but I only stick with the ones I know of. I currently use chrome because it works with most of my programs and blog :)

I am using opera since very long. I use it on my mobile phone too. Honestly I am not using it for surfing purpose. But whenever I download something I do it on opera.

Opera is having good option of pausing and resuming download. I know it is available on chrome and firefox too. But I have noticed many time that they don't work that efficiently like opera.

To be honest, I never heard of the other browsers before as the default browser installed in my laptop are IE and Mozilla. Chrome is also included recently but I think I didn't end up using a lesser known browser simply because our company's product runs in IE and Mozilla.

I have used Opera and UC browser... and now I've also used Edge. But Chrome is the most used I feel, and second to that would be Firefox.

Not on computers, but I've used browsers like Cheetah Mobile or Lightning Browser on my phone and they were pretty good, I was content with them. I use Chrome on desktops though.

I've used almost all browsers in the market and I am not happy with any of them. I like to try new software and each browser promisses different things but at the end they are all almost the same. At the moment I am using Tor, Firefox and Chrome and I am not happy with any of them.
