Smartphones boon or bane?

Postby haripriyavkl » 24 Jul 2016, 17:19

Lately smartphones are becoming equal to that of oxygen because people just can't be without it. They just couldn't take off their eyes off the screen even for a second. So the problem is people fail to spend time with their family and friends. So share your opinion guys whether it is a boon or bane?

I don't know about boon and bane but I know they are overly used especially by teenagers and kids. I mean when you're mature enough surely you'll use a smartphone properly and probably won't over use it and waste your time.

I think it is just the way of life now for everyone! It is up to individuals to make up their mind how much they should use it, or not use it; and parents need to set limit for younger children. Family time should be established by the parents.

I don't know how many times I saw kid as young as 3-4 glue to their tablet at soccer games, in restaurant and even at the park. This is where the parents come in to say no.

As for teenager, I have one, schools assign homework online, use many features to get the kids hooked on their smartphones. So who to blame? It is the speed of life now.

Like anything, it can be good or bad. I find it useful for working on the move. I'm not a phone zombie, though.

As your image depicts, people are spending a lot of time using smartphones, mostly out of peer pressure.
So, from this angle, I think smartphones are a bane.
I'd never wish to be like the depicted automatons.
lol.

Its true; it's disappointing that these seemingly enlightened young people have become slaves to their smartphones!

It's a blessing but at the same time it's really damaging. You can get addicted to the internet and smartphones quite easily to the point you can't live without them (I'm guilty of this) but at the same time it's one of the best inventions ever created by man.

I guess this is the 'bane' OP is referring to.

I've got to admit I love my Samsung Galaxy S5 although I don't walk around with my head joined to it, I use it for urgent calls and texts when I am out (I feel quite insecure without it in case I get an emergency call) and the rest is for fun when I am at home. I would never use it if I have friends round or if I am on a night out.

We all used to manage before they came along, in fact I remember saying I would never have one but I do enjoy being connected. Boon or bane? A little of both I guess :D

It's a "boon" and "bane" at the same time, smartphones are extremely useful in today's society and while they're so powerful they're also addicting, I personally couldn't live without it which is pretty sad.
