Recently I purchased some Xiaomi earphones from the US... a pretty cheap purchase. But I chose those earphones after seeing some Beats by Dr Dre earphones on special. I checked reviews... Xiaomi's were better. However: that could be simply because the expectation of Beats was higher.

All my tech comes from brands that are less well known in NZ because I've chosen to go for reviews of the product itself.

What do you do? Reviews or brand?

If your choice suits you well, I think you've no reason to abandon it for anything else.

Of course reviews... even if I'm buying from a brand, I'll only buy if there are good reviews of it. Because I know that sometimes even the big brands can also make something awful so its always better to check for reviews first and then buy something.
