Add external storage to your android phone

Postby Happyland » 10 Aug 2016, 16:50

Sometimes when using a smart phone there are a lot of videos or music that we capture and store on it. Even the things that we wanted to only store temporarily will be forgotten and eventually clog up the space. It's ironic but some phones have software to support memory expansion cards but not all phones have the card slots.

There are many options around this problem. Two ways that can help are a wireless media hub or a plug-in drive. The plug in drive works with a micro usb on one end and a usb on the other. The micro goes into the mobile device and can give anywhere from 16gb to 128gb of storage. There are also portable drives that can be used and wireless sd cards and usb drive readers.

This is a good piece of information especially for my brother who is in smartphone 24x7. He uses a memory card of 16GB as of now but planning to change it soon. Can you tell us more about the plug in on how it works? Thanks :)

These tools/features will be increasingly needed as users increasingly use smartphones for many ways.

When I still had my Android phone, I used a micro SD card for extra storage of pictures, and music. This is the one thing that I miss the most, the option to have extra storage. I am now on iPhone, and there is no such thing. If my iCloud is about full, they will prompt me to buy extra storage, which I don't like to store my stuffs in the Cloud.

I plug in a micro-usb cable with a standard USB on the other end, then hook it up to my computer with a Terabyte hard drive. If I run out of space there, another Terabyte drive can be added for about $50.
