Tech Support Scam?

Postby Sam » 17 Aug 2016, 07:46

Have you ever been caught in a tech support scam or do you know of anyone that has been duped? The basic idea is they log into your computer (through a program like Teamviewer) and show you some BS to make you purchase their support.

Warning... bad language. :P

Interesting
I'm wondering; how do these fraudsters obtain my login credentials?

I came across two scams. one is from NGO they wanted me to fund one christian childcare place. Another scam i came across recently was from the people who sell norton anti virus. They asked me to give access to the PC and using the teamviewer they installed the application. And asked to pay for the antivirus keys.

I've had a cold caller ring and tell me I have malware on my computer and told me to do various things to get rid of it. I wasn't fooled by it though and once he knew that he put the phone down on me.
