No specific skills. it's similar to Photoshop type of skills. you need to get control over the options and settings. You have to learn how to load video, add effects and other content. And then finally encode and export format. It takes few hours to days to learn how to edit the video. There are software such as vegas and few others you need to learn.

This is something that I am interested in also. I just need to know how to cut a certain part, and edit a certain part. However, my time is also gone on doing other things and I never have enough time to learn new things.

Now I understand one new thing that has been bothering me for long. I used to think that it required special skills to work on videos. With time and some free online training tutorials, I believe it will work for me too.

Sorry to hear this mate. Unfortunately, you and I are in the same boat. I can't seem to get the time to learn some desired skills. My entire time is spent trying to earn a living. :(

There aren't really any skills involved in editing but you do need to have good footage. Being experienced in filming videos and getting cool shots will definitely make your life easier when editing, but it ultimately comes down to practice.

Whichever movie making software you use must have features to edit your videos. As @skysnap says you need to look at those features.

I have always wanted to learn about this too. I was interested in making a youtube channel. I wanted to make quality videos. It seems as if some people put a lot of work into that.

You need to learn a good video editing software, the better you are at it, the better videos you can produce with it. You can find tutorials of such programs on youtube for free as well.
