Do you use biofuel?

Postby earthsalt » 06 Sep 2016, 12:41

Biofuel is a favorite of most environmentally-conscious motorists. Do you use biofuel in your car?

Nope, however I have researched it in the past. I really don't see the point in using it unless you make it yourself which is a hard complicated process.

I believe Ethanol is a biofuel and it's in all the gas sold in the USA.

It's going to depend whether the Gas station you use has decided to blend their fuel with Biofuel. In NZ, BioFuel has never really become mainstream although a few stations do use it. Bear in mind: Biofuel blends have to be cheaper to cost the same as mineral (normal fuel) blends because Biofuel contains less energy.

Interesting point. Why not buy it from gas stations and vendors?

Where I live in the USA it's regulated by government that gasoline sold for public use on highways contain 10% Ethanol, so there is on choice.

An eye opener. I had not thought about it from this angle.
Anyway, this is not the reality in most other countries across the world.

I live in the USA, so whatever gas station has the cheaper price and my car is allowed, I would buy that one. However, @oldbuddy answered for me too :)

I haven't even heard of biofuel let alone see it at a gas station, I don't think it's sold here in Romania and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work in my car. It will definitely be useful in the future though!

It works in any car that burns gasoline, since it's 90% gasoline and only 10% ethanol.

Unfortunately, the biofuel technology in Malaysia is still yet matured.

Unfortunally no, I still use petroleum in my car. We want to buy a new car and we are considering an electric one, especailly for my own use, because I drive for short distances and it could be a good option for me. Biofuel I think is not an option in my country yet.

No biofuel is not much used in Portugal, most cars use Petroleum and I don't see that changing so soon. You can find some gpl cars in my country but not many because it is quite expensive to install the system in the cars.
