Facebook Page Scams

Postby Sam » 07 Sep 2016, 02:01

What's the best way to deal with impostor Facebook page scams? Have you ever fallen for one?

It seems like Facebook doesn't have a good way of reporting posts. :P

The page is a carbon copy of the actual legitimate page. The shopping centre is aware of the scam page but Facebook has not taken it down thus far.

Oh my God! The Facebook should act fast and tack action on this kind of scam before it spread.

Normally, taking up this matter with facebook would cause the impostor page to be taken down. I'm not sure why this has not worked so far.

Sorry for this mess.

@Sam. Has your FB problem been resolved? Given that FB is generally a responsive company, I guess they have addressed your concern by now?

I agree, Facebook asks so many questions that one willing to report a post stops midway. I have my personal experience of trying to report couple of posts but never completed the process despite knowing that these posts were clearly against the rules. I stopped because all the posters were in my friends list and I did not want to offend them. However I have never fallen in their trap ever.

I have reported some pages and got them taken down, but I had to jump through hoops and find the right contact form. It took half a day and I did manage to fib my way through a form so that it would send.

I then got through to a human who did help me and got the pages taken down. In my case a friend of mine had an ex that set up a page with her address as a dog kennel and advertised it as such. They always need evidence such as who you are, and also contact you via message on your FB page as well as email.
