Send money using phone(not smartphone)

Postby earthsalt » 09 Sep 2016, 08:12

Are you able to send/withdraw money using a feature phone (without internet connection)? I mean, money transfer/withdrawal service that is facilitated by your mobile service provider.

I don't use my smart phone as far as money or bank concern as I don't trust myself for one, and don't trust the safety of it for another reason.

But I don't think you can do anything without internet, because you have to sign in to your account and without connection, how can it worked? Have you asked your mobile service providers?

Point taken. Though not entirely factual.
I'm able to safely send money to fellow subscribers on the mobile service I use.
I guess this is the concept that OP is referring to.

Not an entirely new concept.
In my country, this has been a reality for more than ten years.

There are no such service on my country where you can transfer real money or withdraw it. May be it will take time. But you can transfer mobile balance from your phone to others.

No, there's not a service like this offered by my bank and honestly I don't see how it would work without internet connection, you would have to send text messages and everything would be a hassle.

I am not sure but if you are talking transfer of money from phone account to phone account (share talk time or data) I think that is possible but beyond that I cannot imagine how is that possible.

It is surprising that you don't have such services in your country. Believe me; the moment you can access these, you'll have a greatly convenient life.

Yes, we have those services here in Botswana. I'm with Orange and we have orange money through which we can send and receive money without the use of the Internet, and it's very popular. Other mobile phone networks also offer their own versions. It's brilliant :)
