Postby skysnap » 12 Sep 2016, 09:32

So I have this idea of an game and want to know if people buy games from android store. Not that I want to create something like DOTA or so. But I have idea for games for kids.

Do you think people purchase games on android or google play store?

I do... but I tend to play free games with IAPs... however I don't ever purchase IAPs!

I know the hardcore android gamers on reddit are happy to buy games upfront though and hate IAP games especially ones with "pay to win" functionality.

Once I did buy a game off the Google store for 2.99. It was kind of a silly game that I no longer play. I go for free games now. But to be honest as far as phone games go I don't enjoy them like a console or PC game.

I don't buy games on my Android. Personally, I don't like playing games on my phone. I prefer to use my computer. I've purchased games before from the Windows store, but not from the play store.

I agree. They seem to be less substantial and don't feel like they're worth the money, which is a shame given the amount of work that goes into some games. Still, many people love them so if you have a good idea for a game, OPer, then go ahead.

I purchase apps but not android games. Unfortunately there are too many free games out there. If your game was special or had a niche market, you could potentially do well. You have to judge whether or not to release under a freemium model or as a paid app. You might want to build freemium functionality into the app but release it as paid. If the demand's not there, convert it over.

That seems to be the plan. My current target is under 15 folks so I don't expect the purchases. And that makes me worry more because I don't want to work hard for giving it away for free. Time is valuable for me at this stage of life.
