Postby germainebull » 19 Sep 2016, 08:33

I've just noted that the real time system clock on my computer 'has lost power'. What could be the cause?

First check Synchronize with an Internet time server is checked. This can basically solve the problem.

Else you may have to change the CMOS battery if the battery is dead.

Thanks for your useful advice. I'll try out your two methods.

I see. So, how do I remove and replace this dead battery?
NB: I'm sort of a greenhorn.

Yes, RTC fails due to CMOS battery failure, while you work, RTC gets power from SMPS, when PC is powered OFF, RTC gets power from CMOS. You can still work by setting correct date and time on each Power ON of your PC.
