Do you use Medium?

Postby Fergal » 26 Sep 2016, 17:18

I've visited Medium a couple of times recently and have read some quality content there, particularly in the area of computer programming. I haven't posted anything on the site, but have registered.

Do you use Medium at all or have you used it in the past? If so how do you use it?

I have never seen or even heard about Medium until you just mentioned it right now, and for the most part I see some high quality readings and content. I see a lot of political things on here about the current Presidential Race in the United States, and other big controversial topics in America, such as the Black Lives Matter Movement. I don't really see much at least up front about programming, but I am sure it's easy to find interesting things. It doesn't seek to house much content from other countries though, which would be cool to see as people from other countries start writing.

I have read about it from BlogJob, and heard that it is a good place to blog or share. I wanted to find out more about it, but found that it is banned by my country.

I have visited it a while ago through your link. It looks ideal for writing quality post. As I browse some of the posts there. They seem to be very informative and it invites for a discussion. It looks good indeed. I am tempted to register there and enjooy the "fun". See you there.

Aww! Why would this site be unavailable in your country? Does it pay for posting? You don't need to respond to these queries.

I have used medium in the past. Earlier they used to allow the twitter based login so I made one post based on my observation with python programming. Unfortunately I removed that post to another site as I can't keep two copies of same post. I wish to write there in future but for now I just browse their content. A lot of content is good there. Some however does read like link bait.

I have a couple of accounts (for each pen name), but haven't written there still. I decided to check my accounts after reading this and they are still there!

I see Medium more of a place for people to up their profile and make statements rather than personal blogs. I like how they put a read time, but some of the comments make for good reading. It's an okay place, but right now I don't have time to add there, because people do love to comment there and you need to respond to them if you can.

I don't use it to write on there but I do read a lot of articles, mostly about programming. FreeCodeCamp is a good one for anyone that's interested.

For anyone who is new to Medium, you can select the tags of the subjects that interest you and then that is the type of content you will see when you visit the site.

Thanks for the suggestion FuZyOn, that actually is one I follow and they have some quality content there that is well worth reading.

I have always been wondering why and thought medium.com has been down for so long, until recently I found out it's related to political issue.
I don't think it pays for posting in medium.com. I just know it's started by one of the twitter's founder.
