Postby germainebull » 29 Sep 2016, 17:01

Evidently, every country on earth has at least one mobile carrier. How many mobile carriers are there in your country?

I think there are about 3 main carriers in the UK, but there are many companies who re-sell the services. For instances, you can buy a phone SIM branded by a supermarket, but the actual carrier is EE. But it gets even more complicated: EE took over the Orange and Talk Mobile brands, but itself was bought by British Telecom recently.

Right of the batch, I think there are at least four big companies, Tmobil, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon; and then there are smaller ones such as StraightTalk, BoostMobile, Cricket, and Virgin Mobile.

It depends on where you live and the carriers' coverage area, they are competitive so consumers gain a better deal choosing a good one.

There are too many to count although like @IcyFirefly said there are four major companies here. Then there are the cheaper ones that don't have as good coverage and then there are those that are prepaid services or pay as you go. There is a lot but I stick with a major company since I have seen people deal with the cheaper ones and the adage that you get what you pay for is true.

There are 5 main carriers in the US
T-Mobile
Sprint
AT&T
Verizon
US Cellular

But there are a ton of smaller regional carriers as well Some are actually branches of any of the "Big Five"

Alas! Such complicated business scheme!
I wonder how an aggrieved customer is handled in such a case.

In the UK there are a fair number, and it's very competitive. Most people choose according to what coverage they have. O2, Vodafone, EE, T Mobile, and Three. I've used all of them in the past except vodafone, which has always had bad coverage where I am.

I'm not loyal at all to any network, and in Scotland I think vodafone is the only decent coverage you can get. I tried to get a sim for a friend there and Three doesn't work, so vodafone has a monopoly there in some respects.

I used Vodafone during my visit there and they were a nightmare. First it took them two days to even get it working and it was almost impossible to figure out how to use it without extra charges. Next time (if there is one) I will just use Wi-Fi.

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

In Romania there is Vodafone, Telekom, Orange and Digi. I'm not sure if there are any others since anything other than these 4 never get mentioned but we do have some diversity.

I can only remember around 8. I am guessing there are more than 8. But I can only remember the ones I have heard in the ad. Few of the telecom in India are moved to Africa too. Like Airtel.

i can only name 3 -- Smart, Globe, and Sun. Well, Smart and Sun are owned by PLDT company. I'm with Globe when it comes to my mobile use but i've been receiving poor signal since i moved in to this area. I did try Smart for a while but i experienced the same dilemma so i went back to Globe. My internet provider though is PLDT and i now use apps for calling which solves my signal problem.

Here in Kenya, we have three mobile carriers the earliest being Safaricom which is the market leader. Next in line is Airtel followed by Orange. The fourth, Yu, exited the scene due to competition.

I think we have 3 main mobile phone networks, but there's talk of yet another one coming through soon. In as much as I welcome the options, I'm not sure if there's room for one more when you consider the size of the market i.e Botswana's population is just over 2-million.

We have many but I am using only three for time being. You would surprised to note that one of them giving 4GB data free to every one free of cost until 31st December. Although I am getting 25 GB for free as an official tester since I was in their staff a long time back.

Our telecommunication or mobile networks are four in our country. They are the PLDT, Smart, Globe, and ABS-CBN. They are competing each other not on the speed but how weak is their signal or connection as far as Internet is concerned.
