Where do you get programming/ coding help?

Postby Sam » 18 Oct 2016, 23:15

If you have an issue with your code, where do you go to get help?

I tried out IRC the other day for a friend and got some really helpful responses on a C programming problem. I also use the Facebook uni groups I am part of for assignments. If I was really stuck, I'd ask a tutor / lecturer.

What about you?

I actually created a forum for that http://forumvu.com is basically for that purpose only. Its our university students forum to help one another on coding assignments and projects.

Unless I don't find anything on Stack Overflow regarding my problem I go on Gitter and ask the appropriate chat rooms. It's a good way to solve your problems.

I've been teaching myself C# for work purposes and I am still at a beginner level. When I run into an issue I search on Google and it usually finds me the info I need on either MSDN or on Stack Overflow. In the past I would have asked more programming questions on forums and I still do occasionally. However, the questions I have now have often been asked before and the Google search finds those answers.

Thank you Fergal.
Another useful forum/site is stackoverflow. Many problems when I try to solve I end up finding a solution on stackoverflow. I think its like the biggest community of coders and they help quite quickly too.

Yes stackoverflow is one good site where you can find many solutions. Also you can check for other sites like tutorialspoint and San foundry etc. All these are more helpful in giving solutions to your doubts.

You can learn programming through sites like code Academy etc

I read through most of the stackoverflow and few other sites. i also watch most of the youtube videos on the topic of the need. I have found that some of the video channels can be a good source of the content. I also read the C-sharpcorner and few similar sites.

It depends on the problem, I use hackforums, stackoverflow, and some random facebook groups.
