Oh! Sorry!
I've experienced a similar problem with my touch pad and I know that it is annoying.
I may however not have definite answer for your query.

Thanks for the advice, but it was an easy fix, as all I had to do was repair the key as instructed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hDkFCm57ec

I am currently kicking myself, as I could've had it done sooner, because I came across that video yesterday, and deemed it unhelpful, because I didn't pay attention to all of the instructions. I'm such an idiot...-_-

Don't be so hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes which comprise a key component of learning.
Now that you've provided this video, I'm enlightened as I think I can seek a similar solution for my malfunctioning keypad.

Can we do like that on other keys as well? And also with other keyboards than Apple's?

I don't know what is the operating system of iMac. What I know a little about Windows that there is an on-screen keyboard in case the external keyboard won't work. It could be used. It is designed for the handicap person. I once used it when most of my keys on the keyboard won't work until I buy a new keyboard. It is found on Ease of Access at the Control Panel. It may be used by the facility of the mouse or by the mouse pad by moving the cursor to the desired keys.

This is how it looks like when it is being enabled or on.
