Mobile network coverage

Postby germainebull » 12 Dec 2016, 09:29

In my country, certain areas are not covered by the four mobile network providers. Citizens in these neglected areas thus have to incur considerable inconvenience when trying to make a phone call.

How is the situation in your country?
Is every region covered by mobile networks?

I live in the United States and there are dead spots with no coverage in rural areas.

It is stunning that there could be such 'blind spots' in the USA. Given the immense financial and technological muscle of the USA, I think this is unacceptable.

You may not be aware that the United States covers 3,796,742.23 Square Miles with a LOT of unreachable territory.

It also depends on what network you have here in the US too. Some don't have the amount of coverage that the big networks have. I have known people to have problems when they are in a semi remote area while my network doesn't have that problem unless you get way out in no mans land.

We do get areas like that here too. I guess it's same wherever you are in the world; the further out into the sticks you are, the worse the reception. But I'm ok where I live. Plus, like morgoodie said, it also depends on your network, and I'm on Orange, which I believe is the best here.

Yes we get areas in the UK where there is very little or no network coverage. My sister used to live out in the country and we just couldn't speak on our mobiles but had to use the landline as I would find after a few seconds I would be talking to myself!

Yup its same here as well. But here one or two are always available, so if some area is not covered by all 5 networks, most definitely one or two networks would be covering that area.

In my country there is the same problem where most people do not have internet connections, but there is something that is being done to make sure that everyone is able to get internet wherever they are.

In my place mostly all of us getting coverage but it mainly depends on the type of the network they are using. Recently we were affected by heavy cyclone due to this we haven't got coverage from past 3 days and only government towers are in working condtion. This is one of the worst cyclone I have ever seen in my life that caused major damages all over 5 districts of Tamil nadu.

Even if this is the case, such situation would only be acceptable if your unreachable areas are not inhabited. It'd hurt to leave out taxpaying Americans from the network coverage loop.

Both of these areas are common, but people who live where they are out of the loop know that was the case before they moved there.

Mobile network coverage in my country is not good at all and ever since it is giving us poor service, like what is always happening to me. This network I am using claims they are the hottest when it comes to network, but as soon as I went inside the house, I don't have coverage at all. It should not be like that.

In my country, we have a specific law that requires mobile service operators to cover all areas. But, the vice of corruption has made it impossible for the government to implement this requirement.

I wonder what is the comparable situation in your country?

It is a bit reassurance to learn that no area is completely out of the coverage loop for all your available networks. This issue nevertheless introduces unique challenges for users; to guarantee undisrupted connectivity, users may be required to carry the SIM cards of all providers always.
