Accessing the laptop of a stranger remotely

Postby niche » 14 Dec 2016, 01:00

A vendor boasted that her associates could delete files from the hard disk of any laptop in India remotely. Does anyone know how certain citizens can access the computers, hard drive of any other citizen, delete and modify files without their permission, do they require any special equipment to do so?

A hacker will always be a hacker there is nothing in the digital world that a hacker cannot hack. I may not know how they do it because they are the only ones who know the tricks they play.

Your discussion has got me thinking; Suppose my laptop is not connected to the internet, wifi, or other network, would such hackers still access and tamper with my hard disk remotely?

You can be only hacked online if you are connected. if there is no nettwork connecction there wont be any hacking.

Your post has enlightened me. Thanks for sharing this information.

Since I have to be on the net at virtually all times, I guess my best bet of security is a robust antivirus software.

Yes and beyond my knowledge, if there some worms installed in your laptop. Once you accessed your laptop online, the hacker can do everything to your laptop, including hacking or cracking. Of course that not easy to do so.

At this rate, I guess we all have to be extra cautious when using the net. Who knows, a hacker could send us carefully camouflaged worms that could endanger our privacy.

I do know that you can install software that will turn on your computer and connect it to the Internet remotely and completely unattended. My guess is a crafty hacker could find a way to do this without our knowledge.

I feel the same because it takes just one click for obtaining your permission to tale control of your computer. You can do it without even knowing it when you did it. The hackers are smarter than we think they are.

Can you clarify how they are taking control of the laptop remotely, They are changing the time and deleting files on the laptop, how they can be prevented from doing so.

Do hackers obtain real, measurable benefits (perhaps financial) by accessing people's computers remotely? Or is it merely a case of some smart alec trying to showcase his/her devious abilities?

I agree, oldbuddy....I think no matter what you do, if hackers want to access our devices without our knowledge, they can and will. I mean, if they can hack into highly secure websites such as the Pentagon's, what hope is there for the rest of us?!

I've often asked myself the same question, germainebull....I mean, does anyone know what they get out of it?!

They can easily obtain user names and passwords for anything you do online and divert any money transacted to themselves.

Yes, you use a RAT for this. However, I don't think hacking discussion is allowed here.

I don't know if hackers can get into your system without some sort of permission or not, but I do know that they often use certain websites that are designed just for that purpose, to gain remote control over someone else's machine. They usually have to have you input some data or go to that site yourself in order for this to work. But once inside your computer, they have access to pretty much everything, which is very scary.

Would such access not constitute hacking? I won't want to do this.

Yes it absolutely would constitute hacking and you are wise to steer clear of it.

Is this as easy as you make it to sound? I mean. Supposing a hacker obtains my online banking password, is it this breezy to withdraw my cash?

I have heard that sometimes, viruses and worms that makes ur system vulnerable to attacks are usually put inside some essential apps so that whenever u download such apps, you are indirectly giving hackers unlimited access to your computer.
