How to look after a laptop battery?

Postby Sam » 17 Dec 2016, 00:50

My laptop batteries always die. :'( My Lenovo laptop had 8 hours of battery life.. now I'd be lucky to get two. What laptops have good battery life/ how do I pick a laptop with a good battery life? How can I preserve a laptop's battery life? And finally- do Macs retain battery life better?

A useful strategy involves always plugging off your laptop whenever your battery is charged to the full. You can reconnect to the power source when your battery level drops to less than 50%.

I try to mix the connect time and battery time every day. So I don't keep it conneccted all the time. some of the time I try to disconnect too. and that does work out most of the time.

This is a useful strategy that would however only be applicable if a battery can sustain a laptop for a considerable duration of time.

Hi! I use an Acer laptop and I have to say that I am satisfied with its battery life. My co-teacher thinks that it has a long battery life too. Just like skysnap and germainebull, I also mix connect time and battery time. Another co-teacher removes the battery of her laptop when she use her laptop while it's plugged in. She says that it protects the battery. When I bought my laptop, I asked the technician if that is good practice but he said that he don't think such practice makes a difference.

The practice of removing a laptop battery frequently may harm the battery. This is a tip I obtained from a certain technician. I'm however not sure if this is factual.

I also have had this problem. I just try to charge up my laptop fully. I know my battery really drains if i use it while it is on the charger.

Hmmm.
How so? Isn't your battery collecting power from your power supply at such time?
