Windows update

Postby germainebull » 19 Dec 2016, 11:08

For the last two hours, I've been searching for Windows updates on my laptop. I'm a bit perturbed as to the lengthy duration of this process.

I need your help; does this process take so long? Is something wrong with my laptop?

You mean upgrading to Windows 10 or just general updates. My computer updates automatically when I close it down but when I upgraded to Windows 10 it took around 2 1/2 hours or more. I don't know if I'm understanding your question properly.

The computer is supposed to update itself automatically when it is switched on. Mine does that all the time maybe you should get your computer checked.

I try to hide the updates. The reason being anything that downloads above my quota is not good for my system.

What OS are you using? And why are you searching for windows updates? Was it manual or it started automatically?

I'm on Windows 7.

I'm searching for windows updates because my laptop does not open a specific JPG file. The system advised me to install updates to Windows Photo Viewer.

I have Windows 10 provided to me by Microsoft in lieu of my Windows 8.1 free of cost. Now Microsoft takes every care of providing me the latest updates with my permission. Even if I refuse them in case I am not prepared for the updates they wait patiently for my permission.

It is the upgrade that it takes too long for the desktop or laptop to handle. While update sometimes takes a few minutes and the file is not to heavy for the system to handle. Why not try to visit its official website of MS to download the updates for they free? For upgrade, I think you have pay for it.

I remember that Windows 10 Anniversary Update took me about 1h. Yes, Updates tend to take a lot of time, especially if you haven't updated in a while.

Thanks for your suggestion.
But I think I don't have to pay for a system update.
I'm not sure if I'm getting you right.
