You will no longer receive Google updates because ...

Postby germainebull » 14 Feb 2017, 14:26

Of late, I have been receiving this message on my desktop PC: You will no longer receive Google updates because Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported. I can seem to make sense of this.
Any ideas?

Latest versions of Chrome can not be used on XP or Vista because as the message you receive says, they are unsupported. They are really old operating systems. The version of Chrome you have is the latest you will ever be able to get unless you update your operating system.

Windows XP and Windows Vista are officially deprecated. Not just by Microsoft but the software companies who are making the apps. I think you should upgrade to Windows 7 by now at the minimum. If that doesn't work then you have to switch to linux.

I got this same email message several days ago. I worried but when it is updated or upgrade to a higher OS, it won't matter anymore. It's good my present OS is Windows 10.

If this is the case, this is super unfair. It is like pushing a user to purchase Windows 10.
Not that I expect businesses to be fair.

Not at all, you can still use it if you don't care about the updates or are satisfied with older software. You can't expect Microsoft to support every version of Windows forever, or they would go broke.

I guess us users have to move with whatever companies demand of us. It is not like we have any option.

There are plenty of options, stay with old software, or use Linux for free.
