Windows computer 'chooses' what password to accept

Postby earthsalt » 20 Feb 2017, 08:31

I have noted that my Windows 7 computer occasionally flipflops on what password to accept. In other words, this computer sometimes accepts an uppercase password. At other times, it accepts a lower case password.

I have been using this password for more than 2 years.

I have noticed this anomaly several times and I now want your opinion on it.

I think, it is something strange and peculiar. Normally, it is said that the 'username' and 'password' are 'case' sensitive. So how can it do like that? I am perplexed!

I would change the password and see if the same thing still happens!

I am as befuddled as you. Perhaps @earthsalt could try out the technique proposed by @jonjenkins and update us.

That is strange and quite a problem really. If this is a widespread problem then it really does need to be fixed and if it is case-insentive it could mean its easier for people to gain access to other peoples computers

Do you have an idea about what could have caused this problem? I think proper resolution should begin with understanding the genesis.

That's a good idea. But one thing I have seen online. No one knows everything about everything. ;)

I have not experienced any issue so far. I hope this calm situation remains.

Keep in mind that Windows can use two password combinations, one for your local computer only and the other a Microsoft Account that is attached to you.
