Product information is missing or invalid

Postby earthsalt » 17 Mar 2017, 05:41

I am using a newly installed version of Windows 2013 on my computer. I am getting the following response whenever I turn on my computer:
The product information programmed into the system is missing or invalid
.
Any ideas on what this is about?

Sounds like a case of unauthentic software. Just a gut feeling though. You might want to take this matter up with a qualified technician.

I sincerely hope that I am not using pirated software unwittingly. I paid a certain technician handsomely to set up my system.

Does this happen after Windows has booted up and you can see the desktop, or before that point?

Do you get that message right after turning your computer on? Like when it is loading the bios information? I don't believe it has to do with windows but with the BIOS, this sort of problem happens when the motherboard loses some information. I heard something similar with HP laptops.
Could you give us more information about your laptop brand please?

Yes. I am getting the error message at this stage. Incidentally, I am also using a HP laptop.
