At the moment I get 100GB of 4g internet. It isn't enough. I probably use 2x that...

The apartment I live in has a hotspot but, although I can at least get 10mbps -15mbps on the floor landing, the speeds to my room is ~1mbps. I was told that the 5Ghz network is better and the network operator claims 40mbps. However, 5Ghz isn't installed on my floor. So... I attempted to setup a repeater using a Xiaomi Mi Wifi 3 (https://www.techwalls.com/xiaomi-mi-wif ... -3-review/) (I have a special modem for 4g as well as another modem which cannot be used as a repeater). I set it up as near to the entrance door as possible and it did connect to the hotspot (although could not find the 5Ghz network). But... I get ~ 0.1mbps to my room from it. :'(

Any ideas?

Are you sure your device can pick up 5Ghz networks? I know my phone can but I don't think my laptop can. That could be why you could not find the 5Ghz network listed.

My laptop can but my desktop only has a long range 2.4Ghz adapter. Should it be picked up on the Xaiomi modem though? It can output 5ghz.

What brand are you using for the adapter? Dlink is better and stronger. I use Usb dongle with antannae

I have a long range TPLink (but it only does 2.4ghz).
