1800s lock still useful today

Postby earthsalt » 29 Mar 2017, 15:04

This gadget debunks the myth that our ancestors' inventions are obsolete.

The "detector Lock" was created by British locksmith John Wilkes. It’s called a "detector" because it features a dial that counts the number of times it’s been opened without the owner’s consent. On the surface you see a man holding a pointer. A tiny button on the man's jacket resets the counter back to zero.

How cool!

Interesting. I would like to lay my hands on this ancient invention that is amazing.

Is this lock likely to be produced commercially?

But have you ever thought that maybe a lock is obsolete and we just haven't discovered something better yet? Maybe 10 years from now we'll look at locks and laugh, no one knows what the future holds.

Indeed a cool stuff but why there isn't any similar gadget in the current market? I guess that olden days genius are more creative than now
