My online friend from the UK visited me following Google Earth where there was a landmark that guided her. No doubt I had given her my address and this with the help of Google Earth she landed right at my gate - a moment I will never forget.

Have you used Google Earth?

Google Maps is the one that gives door-to-door directions.

I know of Google maps not earth anyway with this digital era I guess a time is coming when people won't bother bidding from each other because things have been made easier and to say the truth I think it's scared me to some extent even though it makes life much easier than before.

It indeed is. I was located by a virtual contact as I had my house there. I deleted it.

You can try it. It is interesting. You can see the earth minutely.

@Chikitaa You can have a look at it by downloading it. It is very interesting. The whole earth in its minute form is at your disposal.

Google Earth and Google maps are both very useful. It is interesting to think what the folks in Google's labs are in the process in developing. It is tough to stay on top of technology. It is like an ever-moving goal post.

I think its a little bit creepy that your home could so easily be located. But I guess like other aspects of technology, Google earth/maps has its advantages.

Yes, while wasting time, or killing time, I am asking my friends address, without their knowing I am using Google Earth to know their houses. It is fun. I even used it to search for the office while job hunting before. It is one of the best features of Google.

When it was new I used to do that too. I somehow cannot post my own house there now. I did that then until a virtual contact found me and I quickly deleted it (lol) But I do see my location quite clearly.

It indeed is but the joy of seeing your location in the whole wide world is quite amazing.

As a private pilot I use Google Earth to fly to some place new that I will be flying to at a later date.

This way, when I fly there in real life, I have seen the area before.

I love Google Earth, it lets me visit places I've never been l especially it is 3D type. Also, there's Google Streetview where you can see the photos of the streets and even houses.
