How often do you change your router?

Postby sprite1950 » 09 Sep 2017, 09:28

My router is very old and since I'm having a few problems lately with slow internet, various devices not connecting very easily and other minor problems I have decided to get a new router. My last one came from TalkTalk and I think it was pretty basic so I'm hoping for an improved performance with my new one.

How often should a router be changed and how often do you change yours?

I got mine from Reliance ISP for some time but they gave me countless troubles. I then switched over to Airtel and now finally I am with the government owned BSNL - so far so good.

I changed my router 3 years ago because I changed my tariff and I needed one with a better performance. I had my first one for four years and I never had problems with it.

I have no problem whatsoever with my router here which is installed here in my rented house for more than 2 years. I have none at my residence in my native country too apart from an occasional internet outage from the provider's side.

I think I had my last router for around 3 years before I started having trouble with it. If you are having internet problems and it doesn't have to do with the internet company then I would suggest getting a new router. I have a Netgear router and it works great. Hope you can fix your problems so you can have faster internet and not being unable to access some websites.

I've just bought a Netgear Nighthawk but I had such problems trying to connect it so I just got a cable and connected it to my old one and now my internet is superquick and all devices connect really easily. Where there's a will etc.

A router? What is that? Haha :D I think the one I am using right now is a couple of years old. And the one before that I had for about two years. So I would say about 24 months.

I don't use router for internet connection. I use hot spot of my tab or mobile phone which is having 4G connection. I am happy with it!

When we change or replace a router it means we either changed ISP or it's broken. We still use old routers and it still works fine because we don't usually have updated routers at all.

Do you have problem with battery temperature? My battery was very hot and after few month I need to replace it.

My internet provider provides me with one, I have to pay $5.00 a month for it, but if it craps out I just take it back and get a replacement

I just change mine when it stops working, My ISP provides it for free so I won't need to spend money.

I don't use any router, instead I use the hot spot of my tablet to get the access of internet. Solong I never faced any problem with this. In case if I fail to get strong signals from that then I use my mobile phone to use its hot spot! Thanks!
