eset nod32 is the best antivirus I've ever used. Never had a problem with it and it always blocks harmful ads/links.

i think windows system is a anti virus so you don't need any anti virus to install .
if you need extra protection then you have to buy avast anti virus .

May I ask why you don't use antivirus in your Windows 10 OS PC? Didn't use avast on phone only at PC. Works well so far and my computer is still in good shape. Meanwhile, if TS is truly wanted to look for the best antivirus then, it must paid ones or at least in the top 10 list of different articles.

I've been using Microsoft security essentials for years now. So far it's good and it's free so I have no complain. It can detect virus right away. Read more reviews on best anti-virus so you could try what suits on your laptop.

i am surprised no one has mentioned kaspersky.
I've never used another antivirus.
I cannot thus state whether kaspersky is the best.

I am a Kaspersky fan too, @germainebull.

You can get a free trial of it if you want to check it OP. You might want to do a little research, to see which one best suits your needs. There are lots of reviews out there, even on the free options.

I don't know what's "best". Whatever my kids tell me to put on my laptop that's what I use. I follow the advice of my in-house geek squad. Their advice is free!

They have a free trial, yes. I had mentioned previously that the program goes on sale cheap around the holidays. I think it is well worth it. I like the real time protection. It doesn't just find stuff after you have a problem. It actively keeps you from clicking on bad links or opening bad sites, etc. It tells you when unidentified scripts are running in the background and gives you an option to disconnect. Stuff like that.

Before I used Eset Nod. It's good antivirus. But when I upgraded to Windows10 i only use USB Disk Security and turn on Windows Defender. I think antivirus eats a lot of ram.
