It would not surprise me if some email servers mark gmail as spam just for revenge. The gmail system has been very aggressive for quite some time in automatically marking incoming email from other servers as spam just because the other servers do not comply with some arbitrary decision coming from gmail.
I happen to use ymail, which is an option for yahoo. I frequently find my email messages to friends who use gmail rejected because gmail refuses to accept them, even if I am just replying to something they sent to me first.
The messages I get back from gmail is that the yahoo email server does not comply with some specification required by gmail and that as a result, they reject all incoming email from that server. They tell me to contact the postmaster for yahoo for more information, which I have done several times.
If I was in charge of these other servers, I would reject all incoming gmail messages just to kick them back. Maybe some email servers are finally rejecting gmail intentionally. As far as I am concerned, it is about time.
