Social Media Management : Do you use Facebook Notifications?

Postby cmoneyspinner » 02 Jan 2018, 19:06

Do you use Facebook Notifications? I do.

You can use this feature so that you will be notified when somebody has responded to a comment or post thread you're following, etc. I find the Notifications to be very convenient. More convenient than having to constantly go through my eMail Inbox looking to see if somebody answered or going throgh a long list of .

While I'm working at other sites and in different tabs or windows, a Notification will pop up to let me know somebody has left a comment which might be of interest to me. It's very convenient, although sometimes the pop ups are annoying. The good thing is that you can also turn OFF the Notifications if you got the answer your needed.

They have Notifications feature with other social media platforms like Pinterest. But I only use it for Facebook. I'm in Facebook Groups and sometimes ask for some help by posting a question. The Notifications let me know as soon as somebody has responded. If I leave a note on a friend's timeline or send them a DM (direct message), the Notifications pop up to let me know they answered back.

Out of all the social media networks that offer the Notification feature, Facebook is the only that I use regularly.

I try to turn it all off on every device.

These days, after responding to a post, I immediately select "off" for notifications for that post. Otherwise you get notifications about all sorts of drivel people post.

I know what you mean. I do that often after responding to a post too. My mind is made up and I said what I said. Nobody's gonna make me change my statements with facts or opposing views!! Just kidding. But yeah. The Notifications feature is handy but it can also drive you nuts if you don't know how to manage it properly.

I've realized that these notifications are more of a bother than an asset.
They keep diverting your attention.
Consequently, I've turned the notifications feature off.

I'm not installing fb app on my phone that's why I don't bothered by pop-up notification. I use opera mini everytime I visit my account and in the fb homepage I click first the notification. I don't want to miss if there's a reply on my activity.

I thought that at first but I got used to them and now they don't divert my attention. I get so I recognize what to ignore without being distracted at all. It is helping me manage my FB activity a lot better than I used to.

I don't use a mobile device. I use a laptop. Notifications work well on a laptop.

Notification works well on laptop I guess because it has wide screen than mobile.

So, what's on the Facebook notification that others don't have?

For me, mainly I'm active in some FB groups and often ask questions, usually work related, and am waiting for some feedback or advice or help. I'm in a few groups that are very supportive in helping me with my online work projects. The Notifications let me know as soon as possible when they've responded. That's why I open my FB account as soon as I sign on to my laptop. Have to be signed in for the Notifications to work.

Also sometimes if my friends see that I'm signed in they may send me a message to ask me something. When I see the Notification I can respond to them quicker or tell them I can't talk cause I'm busy and I'll get back to them.

With my social media accounts like Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, LinkedIn and Google Plus, I don't really have a need for the constant interaction. I interact more with people on Facebook than I do with any other social media. So the Notifications are an integral part of my time and work management.

I am sorry but I had to turn the notification off since there were too many of them coming so frequently on my screen that made it impossible to work on my important assignments. Most of them were irrelevant and uncalled for since I had not subscribed to those posts. The most irritating was the ones asking to join this or that page or play games.

It is convenient but at the same time, boring in the context that we can get notifications for unwanted or irrelevant stuff.

@cmoneyspinner, now I understand. It's really important to set on the notification setting when it comes to work because it helps a lot. You can easily get in touch and up to date your activity. In my case, it's not applicable.

@cmoneyspinner, I always sign into my social media first. You are right, I think's Facebook just does a better job at engagement, because you know the person better, and kind of like LinkedIn is a way to get some people into your social MMO network. I just like you, am active in some FB groups and often ask questions, usually work-related, or just MMO questions. I'm in a few groups that are very helpful in MMO or just my day job, and it's a great way to make new friends.
