I have a PC (windows 7) in my room and the wifi router in the other room. So the ethernet cable is not reaching my computer. Is there a device that I can connect to my PC so that I can access the internet?

Try to download some software Wi-fi Hotspot to connect your PC from your wifi. Try Connectify or mHotspot.

Hmm this is very interesting... I'd never heard of these before. But it could really come in handy for my job because sometimes customers will says the internet is inaccessible in some parts of their house. We usually have to get them to buy some expensive extender device, so I hope this is something they can do without incurring too big a cost!

For what you are saying I guess your pc does not have a wireless card, without it no software will connect you to Internet. First you need to check if your PC has a device card incorporated with the motherboard, if not the solution is to buy one. You can also buy a powerline, check it here:

If you have a usb port in the back of your computer, There is a device that they sell at best buy. This is a wireless hook up into a hardwire slot. I used to have one but when I moved, it got lost. It might even be at the bottom of one of my storage bins
