'evaluation copy' on WinRAR

Postby germainebull » 12 Mar 2018, 08:35

I recently installed WinRAR in my laptop.
Being a novice, I've realized that the titles of the various ZIP files on my computer are now labelled as 'evaluation copy'.
I have a feeling that this phrase shows that I've yet to accomplish some task on WinRAR.

Can you please enlighten me on this?

It means that you will have a certain time to test winrar than you will have to buy it probably. When I had windows 10 installed in my PC I used 7zip instead of winrar.

I see.
Given that this software is already causing some problems, I'll likely not use it for long.
I'm considering uninstalling it and reinstalling Zip instead.

I used to use WinRar and it'd always give me that notice that I was using an "evaulation copy" or something. I just ignored it and kept on using it and I never had to purchase it to keep using it.

Yeah, the famous evaluation copy.
Well, WinRAR is not free, but you're given the chance to try and later decide if you want to buy it or not.
However, the trial license lasts... forever.
Nobody buys WinRAR, there's no need to. It will continue to tell you to buy it if you're satisfied, but you can actually use the "free evaluation copy" forever. :)
If you bought it, you wouldn't receive the alerts and pop-ups anymore, and that would be all.
By buying it, you would also support the developers, like every other thing I suppose.

This means you have trial or no licensed yet. Still, you can use Winrar for zipping or unzipping files so I don't bother much about the license. Just the disadvantage of that evaluation copy on your title bar.
