I am sad that Google Glass failed

Postby Netherrealmer » 30 Apr 2018, 00:13

I was one of those people who got excited when Google Glass was launched. It is a voice operated smart phone in form of eye glasses. It reminded me of Scouters from Dragonball Z.

Image

It is voice operated like Alexa but it is more portable and and it has a screen that you can use to watch videos, browser the internet or send emails. My inner sci-fi geek got excited the first time I saw Google glass but yeah it's too expensive.

I heard one of the biggest complaints about Google Glass is how hard to browse the internet with it because you will have to touch screen or mouse cursor to work with.

Many people also think it's accident prone since you will lose focus while driving or walking. It is the cooler looking technology but it failed while Alexa didn't. I do think this technology have potential but they released it way too early when it doesn't have much features. I hope a similar gadget will resurface.

Don’t worry about it really. They will always refine and improve before come out with something that will bring them success.

I was never impressed when it was first introduced. In fact, I had forgotten about it until I saw your post. So it didn't succeed? Oh well!

If it succeed we could have got new models with more features. Google actually expected this to make smart phones, tablets and flip cellphones obsolete. Some people who refused buying it said they don't want to look a fool in the public talking alone.

Apple has a product in development as of this moment. It is more like virtual reality though. It is going to be something special. ;)

I want to buy Google glass but no one sells them anymore. Also it was banned in many places because you can take a picture of a person with it without their knowledge. The battery life is only 4 hours. I am looking for cheap imitations but most of them are just headset glasses, They only play music.

Perhaps sometime in the future something like google glass came back... and with more capacity and functionalities.
Google glass is, in fact, a good idea... in paper. However, to use everyday is a little bit weird.
The first thing that cross my mind when I think in google glass is privacy... the lack of privacy :D

I found out that Apple is developing their own augmented reality glasses. It is similar to Google glass but with more features. Now I am excited.

New invention for improvement of life is good. How safe it could be if someone wearing this? I mean...I am referring to radiation. I am concerning the effect to the eyes and ears.

I remember when this was first a thing. I thought it was interesting. I recently saw someplace that other companies were trying to perfect similar gadgets, so maybe you'll be able to get this yet. I don't think they are for sale yet though.

I don't really know if I'd want these, but I like innovation. I thought the idea was kind of cool.

It doesn't seem to have much radiation controversy. The only harm it is known for is the car accidents of people who uses it while driving.

You can take picture of person with any device with camera. It's not only limited on Google Glass.

They will have the same problem that google had IMO:

-Banned from loads of places because you can spy with them.

-Banned in a whole other load of places because an obvious and pricy novelty object that will be stolen immediatelly and maybe even get the wearer/owner stabbed.

-Banned from the workplace due to Industrial Spionage

-get policed on you because people will suspect you planning a heist or a bombing

I love the idea, maybe even play Yu-Gi-Oh as in the TV show.

But they will remain a pricy novelty object to preferably keep at home.

I think they can be used for something, If you are a Vlogger on Youtube, It can be a great tool because you can make a video that shows your perspective visually but yeah it is useless in other stuff and the short battery life is a con too.

They were so expensive no wonder why they failed. I have a friend who owns one, yes is cool to have them but there are a lot of issues with their use like some members mentioned before. Anyway my dear friend soon will be the day you won't need any device to achieve almost all it offers.
