I save all my files in external hardrives and I have an extra copy uploaded online via Google drive. 3 years ago I have a friend who works on a recording company and he gave me rare copies of demo versions of certain songs. Though I like the mainstream version of those songs, The demo versions are rare and impossible to find.

That friend of mine immigrated to France and decided to be away from social networks so I can't ask for copies of those songs anymore. Guess what?

I lost copies of those songs after my hard disk got broken. After that nasty experience, All of my file collections have an online copy and are saved on external hard drives.

Unfortunately your situation isn't rare... because people tend to forget to make backups.
I understand that make backups to all our files is not an easy task (because we tend to have lots of files) but those We don't want to loose, We should have some backups Unfortunatley you learned that in the worst way

But, now you have a good alternative. I'm sure that will not happen with you again

I am using Dropbox to save my important files and to backup my site. Our files should be secure and apparently, hard drives and similar objects are not any more reliable as these can be lost or destroyed.

Best service for online backups are Google Drive, OneDrive and DropBox.

As long as it has softwares installed that I use, It will be used. I just don't use it for hoarding files. It runs faster when there is a lot of empty space.

@Fergus1234 – Uuggg!! What a horrible experience! I can't tell you how many files I've lost because my hard drive was destroyed because … I LET A VIRUS GET IN! (That's what my kids said. It was all my fault! I visit too many weird websites. You know you're getting old when your kids start treating you like you're the child. )

And yet … even with that happening to me more than once … I can't do it! I can't put my files on the Google drive. I don't trust it! Isn't that ridiculous???!!

What can I say? Call me KRAZY with a “k”!!!

It is unfortunate. I do not know of the ways to help you. I use Google drive to take a back up of most of my important files. This experience of yours is an eye opener and I will be more conscious now to take the back up and not delay it.

Google drive is actually safe. None of my nudes got leaked online yet.

Just kidding. What I mean is none of my google accounts had been hacked.

I have 4 Google emails so I have a lot of space to use at Google drive.
