Will using Artificial Intelligence make or mar our life?

There are rapid strides made in using AI in different areas. While I do endorse its use in distinct areas that improves our life what is of concern is anything that makes a human being lazy. Example is Google Alexa.

https://www.pocket-lint.com/smart-home/ ... s-alexa-do

And this is just a tip of the ice berg. Every single day or should I say every single moment devices are floating in the market that do jobs leaving human beings to sit and stare as the saying goes.

Are you concerned too. What else do you know? Do you own any of these devices?

I'm not concerned with technological advances. The main concern is always good versus evil. Technology, artificial intelligence, etc. are good things. They have their value and their usefulness. With the exception of inventions like the H-Bomb and the guillotine, and stuff like that. I think I could make a general statement and say that most of mankind's witty inventions were intended to be used for the good of all mankind. But even though they were meant to be used for good, somebody with a twisted wicked mind can always find a way to misuse it for harm and injury, chaos and mayhem. It's the world we live in.

Alexa is too useless for me, Everything she can do a simple search engine can do better, Also she doesn't understand foreign accents.

Also one needs tp make changes in the house to suit her. Asking her to put off lights or put them on is silly if you ask me

My mother used to say folks is just being LAZY! Get your butt up off the couch ... turn the lights off or do whatever needs to be done! Although I was very happy when they invented the remote control to change the TV channels. Now if I can just control my husband and get the remote control away from him ...

While I must shamelessly admit I do appreciate strides but taking away every kind of physical activity from us is what is bothering me.

I agree with you. It's bothering me too. You don't know how happy I feel when I see my children and grandchildren actually write using pen or pencil on a piece of paper instead of texting. Or draw pictures in a sketch book. Or color in a coloring book. Or actually go to a park.

I work at home now and I miss having temp jobs because I was able to get a walk in the morning and in the evening - I walked to the bus stop. I could read while riding the bus in to work. I even miss visiting the library. Where we live now the library is not conveniently located. I miss when people used to sit out on their front porch in the evenings and neighbors would drop by and chit chat. So many simple things we used to do, we don't do anymore.

Artificial intelligence are there to make our jobs easy and quick. However, with their coming into existence, unemployment problems are soaring.

This is rather a cliched 'despair' because all seniors are going through it. Very rarely will you find a youngster interested in what you, I and those belonging to our world would believe in. In my own family I do not see anyone They only meet at parties and visiting is a word that is not in their dictionary

That is just a tip of the iceberg. Just wait and see what chaos it will create in our relationships. There will no longer be the need to talk to each other nor meet.

I also freak out sometimes when i imagine the limits tgat artificial intelligence can get to. I mean how are we even sure that with all these innovation the robots will not have some sort of free will at some future time? What will they even do with that freedom? How will that affect us? Sich things may be insignificant at the moment but trust me in future no one can predict what will occur.

Maybe us humans will be the future AI. Many would want immortality and one possible way to reach it is by converting the human body to an android body. Maybe if this would be made soon in the future we can call it human AI.

Yes, technology is improving fast and many new products are entering the market. The artificial intelligent is good if it is used for benefit of mankind. Like artificial intelligence used in medical field, space technology, transportation together with day today life is a big boon. This can be a big bane if misused.

Alexa is a smart speaker with the facility similar to voice google search which is nothing new for the people having updated version of PC or Tablets with them! :)

What I feel when developers plan they should look at the pros and cons and not just pros. So much is going on that has even killed people Blue Whale is one such disaster.

Though technology is helpful, it will definitely not replace humans. Though everyday, there are new inventions, I think that it will not replace human intelligence
