How Many Bytes Does A Kilo Byte Has?

Postby A K Rao » 27 Aug 2018, 03:58

Do you know how many bytes are there in a Kilobyte? Some say it is 1000 bytes and some say it is 1024 bytes, Do you know it has been decided in 1998 the tern Kilobyte is exclusively used for 1000 bytes and it is expressed as kB, Kibibyte is used for 1024 bytes Which is expressed as KiB ! Did you know that?

There is no real one kilobyte. I don't know why is this error for so long present in books.
According to SI system kilo is 1000x bigger and mark is k. So if we would have kB, it would be 1000 bytes.
Since it is 1024 bytes it should be called kibi and kibi have mark Ki so it should be KiB.
I really don't know who got idea of KB. It is not kilo or kibi.
