There is no real one kilobyte. I don't know why is this error for so long present in books.
According to SI system kilo is 1000x bigger and mark is k. So if we would have kB, it would be 1000 bytes.
Since it is 1024 bytes it should be called kibi and kibi have mark Ki so it should be KiB.
I really don't know who got idea of KB. It is not kilo or kibi.
