Facebook has a serious competitor: Minds.com

Postby OldGuy » 23 Sep 2018, 12:34

There is a relatively new contender in social networks called minds.com

It is based on block technology like cryptocurrency with the goals of removing the stranglehold and controls found in google, facebook and other existing networks filled with algorithms that control what you can access.

The old controlled networks are about to go the way of myspace. Check it out:

Interesting looking site, with an excellent domain name, will also be interesting to see how it works out in the future.

Get paid in crypto for your contributions to the community

Their concept sounds familiar :)

I didn't know this site but for what I see it sounds promising. I created an account and I am trying to figure out things there, especially because I want to leave Facebook.

So they have video and images features too. I am not sure if they can compete since Facebook is now a complete entertainment site.

I never heard of it. I don't think a new site like that will have the following of facebook. Many people have been on FB for years.

FB will lose some visitors but it will be many years more on market before somebody will replace it. Or FB will buy it like Instagram.

Just ran across an interesting youtube video that explains this alternate social media. Thought it might be worth taking another look:

May be someone will have to come in the market with its own USP and not always aim at Facebook. May be with time, it will be a tough competitor for Facebook.

FB created something uniqe. Everything after it, was some variation of FB or FB buy it. We will have to wait for something big like FB. When FB came, it united blog, forum, chat, image sharing system, games in one place. Everything was before FB but separated.

I have heard of this site but at the time it was mentioned I don't remember anything about cryotocurrency. It could be I didn't know anything about cryptocurrency so even if it was mentioned I didn't pay any attention. I'll gave it another look-see. I created an account. That part was easy. After that, I am clueless and have one question. Is it only the Ethereum cryptocurrency?

Never heard of this site before. Sounds interesting. I really want to see how similar websites of facebook will gain popularity in future because facebook losing it's members. But I hope minds.com won't repeat facebook's mistakes. Facebook is still very popular, so minds.com may take very very long time to gain same popularity. And here comes the funny thing, facebook can buy this site in future . But I don't think people who hate facebook, will continue using minds.com after it will become facebook's property

I haven't heard of the site. I think it cannot compete to facebook though. If one can earn from it, it may.
