At least in the US, nearly all "big screen" televisions are now "Smart TVs". It allows the user to connect the TV to the Internet and watch any video you can get online on a television that can be as big as the room. We have a dinky little 60" TV here, but they make them almost as big as the whole wall if you want to go that big.
The catch is in reading the user manual. What a lot of people do not realize is that smart TV technology uses voice commands, and that means the software is always monitoring conversation in your home to listen for those commands. Even worse, many of them have cameras to watch you as you watch TV. They even tell you about it in the fine print in the owners manual.
Once we discovered the spyware technology, we disconnected it from the Internet and just use it as a TV connected to the cable service. No big difference, and the price is a non issue. They keep getting cheaper with every new year model.
Oh, if you don't believe the spy story, do some research. This is just one story that came up with a quick search. There are hundreds just like it to let you know it is not a joke or "conspiracy theory".
