Google vs. Bing - The 'Math' Round

Postby friendociate » 25 Oct 2018, 13:05

I'm a 'faithful' member of Bing Rewards (I know it might be "Microsoft Rewards" now, but "Bing Rewards" is the name on their 'Blue Checkmarked'-Twitter page)---that is; my desktop-computer's internet-browser's "homepage" is set to 'the Bing Rewards dashboard,' so that I am presented with a list of links to visit every morning. :ugeek:

This morning, one of the links led to the search "math on bing"---which opened up Microsoft Bing's calculation-tool (way more than just 'add, subtract, multiply, divide,' and those simple functions ... it's more like 'one o` those Graphing Calculators rich kids like to bring to school' :ugeek: including tools like a Percentage calculator, Geometric shapes, Fraction calculator, Standard deviation, Graphing functions, Multiplication table, Polynomial solver, Probability, Number converter (mostly 'Roman to Standard'), Geometry calculator, and Number theory).

I remembered our big discussion on 'which one is better (Google or Bing)' and wondered if Google provided such tools, and so went to Google.com and searched 'math on google'; they didn't display such a calculator, but I did find a web-article that explained most of Google's secret calculator-functions.

That Microsoft tool has some seriously advanced calculation going on there. I couldn't have even dreamt of a Fraction calculator. Maybe it's just me. ;)

I do prefer Bing Maps, but I am not sure I can even tie it down to a reason.

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

The reason I like Bing Maps--if I had to tie it down to a reason  ;) --is their "Streetside" view ... the option (on some areas of their map) to see a picture taken of the address from a nearby street.

For example: 600 17th St. NW (the closest I could get to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.) Washington, DC
