In South Korea, cheating on videogames will become a crime

Postby Netherrealmer » 11 Dec 2018, 13:57

E-sport became a serious thing in South Korea that now you might end up in jail if you pay another person to level up for you. They might also punish you for buying someone's save game or account for the sake of skipping being a newbie.

leveling up people who wants to skip being a newbie is a popular online job now and it is going to become a crime in the land of Kpop. You will be fined $18000.

Fake winning streaks is also part of the law. There are people who pays people to lose for them so they will have a winning streak. Now if they can only make rage quitting illegal.

...about time, isn't it? Lol, I guess there is no game in this gaming business. It's a serious thing (and offense) if you cross the line. Very right! Who do these gamers think they are wanting to be on top at all cost? Buying losers now :? What! What?

Wow That is crazy! I am thinking of selling some of my online gaming accounts later. But I think I will never sell to South Koreans. As I would not want them to get in trouble. But yes E Sports is becoming a real sport. And i guess cheating is not allowed in it at all.

Yes selling an account to a Korean will be risky for that person so decline them for their own good.

I agree the laws are kind of harsh over there and in other countries. I mean getting arrested for cheating on a video games? I guess they are treating esports like a real sport now. :D

The most unfair thing is not all cheaters are interested in e-sports. they just want a short cut and have fun.

Oh wow so the law goes against any video game player? not just e sports players? It's not really cheating.
It's just not wanting to take the time to get characters and level up powers. And since someone put in hours playing to get it. They just sell off the account to the person who wants to start powerful with the characters they want high rank etc.

I understand using this law to e-sports players but regular gamers who just want to play casually and have no ambitions to join a tournament should be allowed to cheat. I can't believe people can be jailed for this. Back in my childhood, gamesharking is cool.
