Aside from Dead or Alive, Tekken is the only 3d gameplay fighting game that stayed relevant since most fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat prefers a 2d plane style (graphics are now 3d but the gameplay remained 2d)

Tekken 7 decided to have guest characters like Geese Howard from Fatal fury,Akuma from Street fighter, Noctis from Final Fantasy 15 and Negan from the Walking dead.


Tekken got popular because it is easy to learn. Also the characters came from diverse countries and fighting style.

In just 5 months of practicing you can compete in tournaments. It's easier to pick up than Street Fighter or King of Fighters.

I hope this push through because it will be the only sport where adults, teens, men,women and children are allowed to compete against each other.

Southeast Asian games is actually an Olympics of real sports, As in Taekwondo,Basketball, Volleyball,soccer, swimming are part of the events. They just decided to add tekken and some videogames like overwatch too.
