After the success of their latest original movie "The Birdbox" Netflix decided to increase the price of their subscription so they can fund more quality shows and original movies. I am so sad of the price hike. They don't want people to pirate their contentt but here they are giving people an excuse to do so.

Wow and I wanted to get Netflix again.
I heard birdbox was garbage.
They need to stop producing garbage. In fact all these companies should stop trying
to do original series and stick to just posting movies and real TV.
So far i have not seen an oriignal series that impressed me.
The Oath on crackle was ok. But it's nothing compared to the Black List, Gotham, American Horror Story etc.

I say less original garbage. and lower prices. Let's all write them angry letters!

They seem to be in the news a lot recently. I heard about this increase today but a few days ago I also heard that they are considering a software which will enable them to crack down on password sharing. So those who give their login details to friends and family may not be able to do so eventually.

I think Netflix is priced lower than what it really deserves. Besides when the basic plan is unchanged they have increased one AU$ 1 in two stream HD tier (10.99) and AU$2 in Premium plan (13.99). We have another plan to but I am not sure if they have increased the price for that too. I think they officially allow more than one screen so they have right to ban the unofficial practice of sharing it ilegally.

Even I find netflix shows more suited to my instincts than amazon original shows! Already, their prices were like clouds! Now if they reach out to space, they will be thrown out of universe literally!

but very horirble movies.

I would rather wait on free version online than paid Netflix. Netflix have much lower quality in Croatia than USA.

Again? I am pretty sure they just recently increased their subscription costs not that long ago >.< ...Facebook is going to have Original shows? Why does that feel like it doesn't fit into their business...seems like something that will be half baked :/

We have Netflix in Portugal but I am not a subscriber so if they raise the prices it won't bother me at all. I already pay for TV and I don't even watch it, otherwise I could not have Internet where I live. People are too dependent on TV, I do not watch it, sometimes I watch a movie but from video on demand

The Netflix increase of it's highest level plan (in the US) to $15.99 is still below YouTube Premium at $17.99. (which came down from $40). Competition will keep it from going crazy.

Eventually I can see the prices of Netflix and similar services all being inline with one another. Similarly to the likes of music streaming where most services (in the UK anyway) share the 9.99 price point. That is probably on the limit of what people will pay as it is just below the £($)10 mark and any increase beyond that will not only be an unwelcome price increase but also go beyond that psychological barrier that makes it seem more expensive not only because it is, but also because you now say it is more than $10 for a service rather than less than.

Video streaming is a bit more complex as there is more expensive licensing involved and multiple tiers but I would imagine that they will find there own common acceptable price is on the limit of what users will pay and that will probably be the standard price(s) that companies go with and build their libraries and offerings around the income from that price point.

Just my feelings anyway.

Yes, They already exists, Like the wrestling show Mixed match challenge,Dramas Skam Austin and Five points, Comedies like Queen America and strangers,A cartoon like Liverspots and Astronots, some talk shows and reality shows too.

They are having a deal with Marvel too to make MCU tv series.

Not sure it's a good idea. They have lots of competition and many people are streaming illegally already. Increasing the price even more might drive users away.
