Editing Whatsapp messages

Postby raaman » 17 Apr 2019, 11:54

On whatsapp, is it possible to amend/edit the message once it is send? I could not find any button for that. Even if we hit the 'enter' button by mistake, the message goes!

Edit is not available and I'm not sure they will ever bring it to avoid any controversial moments. The delete function is available and it will delete it on their side as well as long as they haven't read the message.

But once the message is received by the recipient, a double tick appears at the bottom. So will it still delete the message on the recipient's side?

Yeah, as long as the ticks aren't blue (which means they've read it). You just need to have the latest version of WhatsApp and it will work. It will show them that the message was deleted though

Yes, there is a "Delete for Everyone" option.

If the message goes accidentally you have to option to delete by pressing it. Once the option appears whether you want to delete it for yourself or for every one choose accordingly. The message will disappear accordingly whether they have already read it or not.

The question is weather WhatsApp message can be edited once sent, the answer is no . The only thing you can do is to delete for all
Or reply to the message with the correction.

I think it may work if I/we do it immediately on realizing the mistake done.

What good is that if you're on a live chat and sent something unwanted by mistake. Therefore if you want to delete it even if they have read it so it doesn't remain there. However, there is no option to edit your message but delete and post the correct version.

Well here is what I do.
Suppose I sent someone a message :

Hi here is the andwer to your question.

So I immediately realize that andwer is a wrong spelling
So in next line, I sent :

*answer

As simple as that!

Right, but what I believe is that such mistakes are common for instant messaging and the receiver knows and understands it too. But I would like to delete a wrong information like if I gave an account number or link and post the correct one.

I haven't use whatsapp and I never knew you can't edit the messages you sent. Skype has already that feature and so is viber. Maybe they will soon follow. It is nice to checked on our mistake and had it corrected.

Once you hit the send button the only option you have is to delete. You have the option to delete for yourself or for everyone, obviously you want to delete for everyone since you've made the mistake. So proof read a couple of times before you hit send.
