Debate: Is Facebook an invasion of privacy?

Postby halcyon220 » 22 May 2015, 09:11

I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this (Wasn't too sure where to post it so I posted it in Web discussion)

How do you feel about Facebook? Do you feel it is helpful, connecting you, but also knows...too much?

I find it can easily find friends I haven't talked to in years, find people from the areas I used to live in even though I've never added them to my profile or talked about them..It sort of scares me. What are your thoughts? :)

Well as people we all can make the choice who we want on our friend list and who we want to see our stuff. If I remember correctly you can choose certain people in the settings from not seeing stuff on your profile. Due to some Micro jobs my profile has been set to Public for a week so everyone can see my stuff. That will be going back to "Just Friends" though because I do not want strangers creeping on me, haha.

It sort of is an invasion of privacy in some ways but honestly just change the settings if you don't want people seeing everything you post.

I think so. I think too many things are linked via Facebook. I don't like that other people can see my stuff. It's supposed to be only friends, but some people also have friends of friends. I think that's a bad idea.

Some of the blame does go to the people who freely post way too much info, but yeah, Facebook is all up in your business, even if you don't post your life story online like some people do.

I agree its some sort of invasion in privacy, although you set your profile setting to private. But if an authority wants your information, they get it all.

Facebook is really a good social media platform. You can change your privacy level in their settings. If you don't want others to enter your profile then change your privacy settings. If you don't use Facebook well then people might violate your privacy. It is up to you.

I think it's true about facebook being linked in with EVERYTHING. It's literally a one click and your facebook is linked with another login.. Which worries me.

I agree, and Google searches for " How to use Facebook " will also climb very high. Hopefully if they change they won't break the original functionality.

As much as I hate Facebook, I'll give it the fact it's fairly simple and easy to use.

Other trollers invades your privacy. They just will just copy your information and pictures. Then they will add your friends and chat some stupid stuff about you and others. This is what I hate about Facebook. But it's up to you if you want to change your privacy settings.

It isn't because it;s up to you on how much information you want to show to other people, just by registering doesn't let you get tracked down but sharing every hour of your life from just going out to what you are eating, you're the one who put it up there and you should know the consequences of your actions in social medias.

Facebook is not an invasion to privacy. definitely this depends on the user itself. If the user just thinks about his/her own privacy and not letting private things out then its cool.

Just what I said. We have same idea bro. It depends upon the user. Never under estimate Facebook because they can saw holes on their website and they will just update.
