Uber Weeding Out Bad Riders

Postby Lushh » 02 Jun 2019, 02:17

Uber Technologies Inc. recently announced that it will deactivate the accounts of riders who repeatedly receive low ratings. Passengers who leave trash in the vehicle, engage in lewd and illegal acts, hurl verbal/physical attacks toward drivers are at risk of being booted.

Ever since, both drivers and passengers were given the option of rating each other. The drivers however were held at a high rating standard and would be removed if they fell below a 4.6 rating. With the recent decision, riders will also be held accountable for their rude behaviour.

Good move for Uber and this is one situation in which the customer is not always right. The drivers deserve and should be treated with respect too.

How they will stop making new accounts from same person, driver or passenger?

I'm not sure about passenger but in order to be a driver, you have to submit a lot of verification. I don't think you'd be able to make multiple accounts as a driver if they have your drivers license on file.

They need to get rid of the male drivers who are super handsy with the ladies.

That's a good move by uber. It becomes more congenial for the gentle folks. Time will tell how much successful this campaign will be.

I didn't know they have to send driver licenses to Uber. That is good way for verification.

I agree that they should be too. A friend of mine who is a driver for Uber said this after I shared your concern:

"Any report of sexual misconduct is taken seriously with 48 hrs immediate deactivation pending investigation and follow up with passengers and local law enforcement officers. Problem is that in many cases the passengers corroborate stories (to get free rides or punish drivers) and drivers dashcam, etc prove otherwise.

Passengers are more likely to get handsy with drivers than drivers will to passenger. And female passengers (especially drunk) are far more likely to get handsy with drivers. Male drivers may be more verbal than physical in their act."
